High-Quality Solar Dryer in Konaseema for Coconut, Banana, Fish and Cashew
Konaseema, the green Godavari delta district around Amalapuram, is known as the land of coconut. Coconut groves cover tens of thousands of hectares, and the district supplies a major share of Andhra Pradesh’s coconuts. Paddy, banana and sugarcane are the principal crops, with cashew, mango, turmeric, chillies and vegetables grown too, and along the coast aquaculture and fishing, including shrimp, prawn, crab and fish, are a big part of the economy. For growers, fisher families and small processors here, a clean and controlled way to dry produce can help you hold on to more value.
A solar dryer uses the sun’s energy inside a closed, protected chamber to remove moisture from suitable produce, without leaving it open to dust, insects, birds or sudden rain.
Rudra Solar Energy, a solar dryer manufacturer based in Ahmedabad since 2006, has sold 47,000+ solar dryers and works with farmers, groups and commercial processors across India. If you are looking for a high-quality solar drying machine for Konaseema, we can help you choose the right model for your product and volume.

Why solar drying fits Konaseema
Konaseema is a warm, humid delta district with plenty of sunshine for much of the year, but it also sees heavy rain and cyclones. A closed solar dryer gives you more protection and control than drying on open ground, which is useful for coconut, banana and fish. Humid weather will still slow drying down, and we explain that honestly below.
How a solar dryer works, in simple terms
Produce is cleaned, prepared (cut, sliced or spread as needed) and loaded on trays. The sun heats the air inside the dryer, and airflow carries moisture away from the produce. Drying only removes moisture. It does not cook, roast, grind, salt or pack your product. Those are separate steps if your business needs them.
Who can use a solar dryer in Konaseema
- Coconut and banana farmers who want to dry part of their harvest in a more controlled way.
- Coconut farmer producer companies and coir clusters looking at value addition.
- Fisher families and aqua units exploring drying where it fits their product.
- FPOs and FPCs collecting produce from member farmers.
- Women entrepreneurs and self-help groups starting a small dried-food business. See our NRLM / SRLM partnership page.
- Small food processors and MSMEs preparing dried products for local and wider markets.
Choosing the best-fit capacity
Rudra solar cabinet dryer configurations range from about 5 kg to 500 kg of fresh input per batch, depending on the model. This is the fresh produce loaded per batch, not the dried output or daily throughput. A small farmer or SHG can begin with a smaller unit, while an FPO or processor with regular volume may need a larger one. Please note that our cabinet dryers are not meant for bulk paddy or the very large volumes of a copra or aqua processor. Do not buy on kilogram capacity alone: read our guide, Solar Dryer Technical Comparison Before Buying.
What affects your drying results
Drying time and final moisture are not fixed. They depend on the product, incoming moisture, size and thickness, tray loading, airflow, sunshine, temperature and humidity. Coastal humidity, cloudy days, cyclone-season weather and heavy rain can slow drying down or stop it. If you need extra operating options for such days, ask us which configurations support them, because not every model has the same features.
Support and schemes
Government and board support for farmers changes from time to time, and different schemes cover different equipment. Before you buy, please check with the District Horticulture Officer, the Coconut Development Board office and the Fisheries Department whether any support applies to a solar dryer. We are happy to share technical details of our models to help with your enquiry.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can coconut be dried in a solar dryer?
Solar drying can be used for suitable coconut products. The requirement depends on the stage and process, for example the form of the coconut and the moisture you want at the end. Tell us what you plan to dry and we will guide you.
2. Can banana be dried?
Yes, banana is usually dried as prepared slices or pieces. Slice thickness, ripeness and tray loading affect the result, so tell us your variety and the product you want to make.
3. Can fish and aqua products be dried?
Solar dryers are used for fish drying, and we have a dedicated Solar Fish Dryer. Fish and seafood need careful cleaning and preparation, so tell us your product and process before choosing a model.
4. Can cashew, turmeric and chillies be dried?
They can be dried where drying is part of your process. Cashew depends on the stage (raw nuts or kernels), turmeric on your preparation, and chillies may be dried whole or cut. Tell us your product and we will guide you.
5. What capacity should I start with?
It depends on your regular volume. Our cabinet dryer models range from about 5 kg to 500 kg of fresh input per batch. Smaller units suit farmers and SHGs. Larger ones suit FPOs and processors with steady volume.
6. Can I use a solar dryer in the rainy or humid season?
Solar drying works best with good sunshine. On cloudy, humid or rainy days drying can slow down or be limited. Some configurations may offer additional operating options, so please ask which models include them before you decide.
7. Is there any government support for solar dryers?
Support changes from time to time and differs by scheme. Please check with the District Horticulture Officer, the Coconut Development Board office and the Fisheries Department whether any support applies, and ask us for technical details of our models to help with your enquiry.
8. How do I get the price and a quotation?
Price depends on capacity, configuration and features. Call or email us with your product, batch quantity and location, and we will suggest a suitable model and share a quotation.
