Customer:
Fruit Processing Enterprise
Project Category:
Fruit Processing Industry
Customer Requirement:
The client required a dependable fruit-drying system for handling larger batches in an enclosed processing environment. The key requirement was not simply heating the product, but achieving effective moisture removal with suitable airflow and tray loading. The client also wanted a system that could support different fruit-processing batches while reducing dependence on direct open-sun exposure. System selection therefore needed to consider processing quantity, usable tray area, product preparation, moisture load, available solar conditions and the client's required production workflow.
Project Result:
The installed solar drying system supported a more organised and enclosed fruit-drying process with improved control over tray loading and airflow compared with direct open drying. The project provided the client with dedicated infrastructure for fruit moisture reduction and supported repeatable batch handling as part of the wider fruit-processing workflow. Actual drying time and final product condition continue to depend on the fruit, preparation method, loading quantity, weather conditions and target moisture requirement. The project also strengthened Rudra Solar Energy's practical experience in designing and supplying solar drying systems for fruit-processing applications.
What we did:
Rudra Solar Energy evaluated the fruit-processing application and configured a solar drying system according to the required batch handling and moisture-removal requirement. The solution incorporated an enclosed drying chamber, organised food-contact tray arrangement and controlled/forced airflow to support movement of warm air through the drying zone. The project approach focused on: suitable tray area for fruit processing airflow around the loaded product controlled moisture removal practical batch handling enclosed drying instead of direct open exposure system configuration according to processing requirement operational guidance for appropriate loading and drying practices Where applicable to the selected configuration, solar-powered DC fans can support forced airflow. Exact materials and system specifications depend on the dryer model selected for the project.

Project Description

Rudra Solar Energy developed a solar fruit dehydrator system for a fruit-processing application requiring enclosed, tray-based drying at a larger processing scale. The project was planned around one core requirement: removing moisture from fruits in a more organised drying environment while maintaining suitable airflow across the loaded trays. Unlike open drying, the enclosed system helps reduce direct exposure of the product to dust and insects while supporting controlled movement of heated air through the drying chamber. For fruit-processing operations, drying performance depends on factors such as initial moisture, fruit preparation, slice thickness, tray loading, airflow, temperature, ambient humidity, solar radiation and the required final moisture level. The system configuration was therefore selected around the client's actual processing requirement rather than applying one standard drying condition to every fruit. This project demonstrates Rudra Solar Energy's application-focused approach to solar drying for fruits, combining solar thermal engineering, appropriate tray utilisation and airflow management for commercial fruit-processing requirements.
